2004 Tahoe Door Key Lock Not Working

This is driving me crazy.

Rule out the door lock. Put in a new cigarette lighter fuse and the door locks worked again. Get into the vehicle from another door if the door you are working on will not let you enter the vehicle. However vehicles without door lock cylinders will not be able to lock or unlock the doors until power is restored.

The relay seems to be working for the door locks when i hit the remote but the locks do not respond and the fuse is still good for the door lock. The door locks on my 1999 tahoe stopped working and i checked the fuse which was fine. Have to manually unlock door from inside. For vehicles equipped with door lock cylinders the door can still be opened using the key.

The problem turned out to be that the fuse for my cigarette lighter was bad and for some reason it also must be working in order for the door locks to work. When tahoe parked outside depending on what side of vehicle is being hit by the sun the back doors will not unlock with key fob or door lock buttons. The only button that works is the driver side window. The door locks on my 1999 tahoe stopped working and i checked the fuse which was fine.

However there could also be a mechanical or electrical problem with the door locks. For vehicles with traditional style door lock cylinders and keys a bad power door lock relay will merely disable the power door lock feature. If you don t have a spare remote you may be able to buy a used one or get one from your local dealership. Both my remote entry fobs for my 2004 silverado quit working at the same time. Open the door with the broken or damaged actuator from the inside of the vehicle. Try operating the door lock switch to rule out the idea that the door lock is not working.
